It started as just wanting to control the way you look and what you eat. But things have spiraled, and you’re wondering if you are still in control. Is this you? You:
-
Think about food all. the. time. (What you’ll eat, already ate or shouldn’t have eaten.)
-
Wish you had a different body.
-
Can’t not exercise; or are wracked with guilt for not exercising.
-
Avoid hanging out with others when food is in the mix.
-
Have trouble focusing and getting things done.
You probably feel very much alone in this, with nowhere to turn. Perhaps a friend or loved one has noticed and expressed their concern but they don’t really know how to help. They may even be saying it in a way that makes you feel worse.
So you've tried to snap out of it on your own by meal planning or looking for advice online. Or you’ve pushed through, ignoring that you just don’t feel well. You’re stuck in the same cycle of dieting, guilt, and starting over, again and again and again….

Hello. My name is
I can help you step out of
this relentless loop.
Sara Earl
LPC, NCC, BC-DMT
Healing your relationship with food and your body is possible, and you don’t have to navigate that process alone.
I help teens, adults and families recover from disordered eating and body image distress.
My approach to therapy is direct, compassionate and holistic—a blend of mind- and body-focused techniques—allowing us to pivot between talking, sensing and moving, as needed and when ready, to actively work on getting somewhere. This can be powerful for anyone who has been frustrated with traditional talk therapy.
Specialties
Body Image
You’re locked in a battle with your body—chasing an unrealistic ideal while abandoning your bodily reality. Does the idea of achieving body positivity, or even neutrality, seem hopeless?
We’ll work together to define how you can live well in your body. It IS possible.
Eating Disorders
Your eating or exercise habits probably feel comfortable and you’re still torn about whether or not you really want to let it go.
I will be alongside you as you discover, step-by-step, more balanced ways to meet that need to feel safe and confident. This is a funda-mental need for every body.
Relationships
Other people just don’t get it. They keep saying all the wrong things. You’re keeping secrets so they don’t worry or you don’t have to hear it again. It’s really tough to feel so misunderstood.
We will develop ways that you can explain what you are thinking and feeling in a way you can be heard.
Are you the parent, partner, friend or ally of someone with an eating disorder?
An eating disorder in your immediate relationships impacts you too. You need a place to talk about your worry and frustration with someone who gets it. I am experienced working with families and supports whose loved ones were in acute eating disorder care. Taking care of yourself will help you be clear and present for those you care about.
